Cellulite treatment with Sculptra

How much do you love the confidence boost you get from a fresh cut and color at the salon? It makes your hair feel light, bouncy and alive. And we don’t think twice about making sure we get those haircuts at regular intervals. But what about your skin? As we age, we lose volume in our face. We get cellulite on our thighs and buttocks. We get those dreaded wrinkles. Have you thought about making wrinkle and cellulite treatment part of your regular skin maintenance?

Sculptra, a dermal filler that stimulates our own collagen production, may be the answer to these skin dilemmas. Clinical trial results have shown that cellulite treatment with Sculptra lasts at least 25 months.

What is Sculptra and what will it improve?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved biodegradable, biocompatible synthetic filler that may replace lost collagen, bone, and fat tissue. It is a Poly-L-Lactic collagen stimulator (PLLA), the same as dissolvable sutures. This helps restore your fat tissue loss, which reduces the appearance of folds and wrinkles. Sculptra increases the collagen slowly over weeks and months to fill in lost volume.

Sculptra also improves the texture of your skin. As we age and lose elasticity, we take on a “crepe-y” look. Sculptra increases the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin. With the right injection technique, we can restore the anatomical proportions of your face to give a younger appearance. Clients cannot believe how much smoother and suppler their skin feels after just a few treatments.

Over time, Sculptra can improve:

  • Lost volume in cheeks and temples
  • Nasolabial folds, also known as laugh lines
  • “Marionette” lines
  • Undefined jawline
  • Asymmetrical face
  • Cellulite

What can I expect during and after wrinkle and cellulite treatment?

We use a thin, 25-gauge needle to inject Sculptra superficially underneath the skin or deeply on top of the bone to stimulate collagen production. The procedure takes about an hour with little to no downtime. You can go straight to your regular activates after your appointment.

Keep in mind that Sculptra builds up over time so you won’t see instant results compared to hyaluronic acid fillers (such as Restyline™ or Juviderm™). It is long-lasting (two years or more) but initially requires between 2 and 4 cellulite treatments. We usually inject two vials of Sculptra for your first visit. The final amount is determined by your particular case.

For cellulite treatment, we insert the needle into the deep dermis at the location of the cellulite. The filler is injected through the fibrous bands that create dimpling. As Sculptra stimulates collagen production, dimpled skin is smoothed.

Just like your regular hair appointments, cellulite treatment with Sculptra is best done with maintenance appointments every 12 months to ensure collagen is continuing to be produced.

Sculptra exhibits even better and long-lasting results when combined with our other treatments like PRP.
