Two Laser Wavelengths = Greater Precision & Better Results
First introduced by Fotona in 1994, the dual laser wavelength system combines Er:YAG and Nd:YAG laser wavelengths in a single treatment. This combination optimizes the unique laser-tissue interaction of each laser wavelength. The complementary system dramatically improves the outcome of laser treatments, resulting in superior results.
The Er:YAG laser light is used for shallow or superficial tissues in treatments such as skin resurfacing or “facial peels.” Nd:YAG laser light is used for deep tissues, penetrating deep into the skin to selectively target structures such as veins, hair follicles and fat tissue.
Another unique feature of the Fotona laser is its variable pulse duration, which ranges from a few microseconds to a few seconds. The laser works to “heat” the target structure, and the heat is delivered in these pulses. The time between pulses allows the skin to “cool” so that it is not damaged from overheating. Different skin structures have different “thermal relaxation times” (TRT), or “cool down” times — the time it takes for the structure to cool enough between pulses until it is safe to apply another pulse. As such, having the variation in pulse length is what allows us to use the Fotona laser for so many different laser skin treatments.

Below is an overview of the treatments we can perform with the FOTONA laser.
Treatment for Active Acne
For active acne, we use Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser beam. The Nd:YAG laser penetrates deep tissue to selectively target and destroy the overactive sebaceous glands that cause acne inflammation and reduce the likelihood of further acne flare-ups.
Additionally, the Nd:YAG acne laser treatment also helps the healing process by stimulating collagen remodeling. Collagen remodeling, along with proper diet and a daily skin-care regimen, is an important component in the long-term treatment plan for acne.
Treatment for Acne Scars
For acne scar treatment, we use Fotona’s Er:YAG laser beam for gentle ablative scar revision. The Er:YAG laser is very precise and can be controlled to work only on the affected top micro-layers of the dermis. Also known as “laser skin resurfacing,” the process vaporizes the top scarred tissue layer to reveal the healthy underlying and unscarred tissue below.
The process also stimulates the production of new collagen in the dermis to improve the appearance of acne scars. Laser skin resurfacing is a safe and simple procedure that works quickly and involves minimal downtime.
Fotona’s Nd:YAG laser can be used to treat toenail fungal infections. Laser treatment for toenail infections is a great alternative to chemical, topical or oral treatments. The laser targets the infected area to safely kill the parasitic fungi that cause the infection but leave surrounding tissue in tact. The process is safe, minimally invasive and involves little to no downtime.
Fotona laser technology can be used to treat warts. Combining both the Nd:YAG laser and the Er:YAG laser we can target both deep and superficial structures that contribute to the wart. The Nd:YAG laser is used to selectively target the blood vessels to cut off the nutrient supply and kill the wart. The Er:YAG laser is used to ablate (kill and remove) the wart superficially.
Laser removal of warts is a great alternative to topical medications, and reduces the possibility of recurrence. The ability to precisely target the wart means that no additional tissue needs to be removed. The procedure is patient friendly, requires no anesthesia, and involves little to no post-procedure downtime or after care.
Benign lesions can be treated with Fotona laser technology. The procedure uses Fotona’s Er:YAG laser to selectively target the superficially affected area. The laser ablates (removes) the affected area but leaves the surrounding tissue untouched.

Permanent Hair Reduction
Using Fotona’s high-performance Nd:YAG laser, we can quickly and effectively target both small and large areas to remove unwanted hair. Fotona’s FRAC3® laser technology selectively hair follicles in your deep tissue while leaving surrounding structures and tissue unaffected.
Permanent laser hair removal with Fotona’s laser is safe for all skin types. Clients can expect a drastic, uniform reduction in unwanted hair, Additionally, future hair growth will be thinner and lighter.
This laser treatment is fast and effective for both large areas, such as the legs, back and chest, and small areas such as face, arms and bikini area. As such, it is one of the most cost-effective solutions for long-term hair reduction. Scar Revision & Reduction
Fotona’s laser scar-revision treatments are minimally invasive which means they are patient-friendly and offer and faster recovery times.
We combine Fotona’s Er:YAG ablative laser for gentle removal of your scar tissue. This laser wavelength also activates collagen remodeling leading to generation of new tissue. The Nd:YAG laser is also used in some cases when deeper tissue penetration is required, such as for deeper scars or scars in certain locations. The deeper penetration also helps “cut off” the vascular supply to the scar tissue, killing off only the affected area in favor of new, unscarred tissue growth.
Fotona laser scar revision treatments are very precise. This means that we can target only the affected areas and leave the surrounding, healthy tissue untouched. This leads to better results, faster recovery and results and little to no downtime.

Additional treatments are also available using Fotona’s TwinLight™ Fractional Rejuvenation system. For TwinLight Fractional Rejuvenation, we follow a simple 3-step procedure that helps to smooth your skin and give it a refreshed, healthy glow along with a tighter appearance.
Step 1 – Conditioning: An Nd:YAG beam is passed along the surface twice, first to deliver a short stimulus to the skin, second to penetrate the tissue. This dual pass results in a heating and conditioning of the skin for an effective fractional treatment therapy.
Step 2 – Fractional therapy: Worn and damaged skin is ablated (removed) by the Er:YAG laser. This stimulates your skin to form new collagen resulting in “tighter” looking skin.
Step 3 – Peeling: The skin is ablated with a light full Er:YAG beam, which finishes the treatment and removes superficial imperfections.

Laser Body Sculpting and Skin Tightening
Fotona TightSculpting® is a unique dual-wavelength, non-invasive laser treatment used to sculpt and tighten skin. The procedure is fast, safe on all body areas and has minimal downtime. It is an effective, non-invasive alternative to laser lipolysis.
Procedures are performed in two steps:
Step 1 – Deep skin tightening and fat reduction
We use the Nd:YAG PIANO® pulse mode for deep-tissue heating. This process allows concentrated energy delivery to subcutaneous fat cells while leaving the epidermis intact.
Step 2 – Improvement of skin surface laxity
We use the non-ablative Er:YAG SMOOTH® mode for skin tightening. Precisely controlled surface tissue heating stimulates collagen remodeling and new collagen growth, improving the overall laxity and elasticity of skin in the treated areas.
Snoring and Apnea Treatment
Our Fotona laser is an effective, non-invasive treatment which targets a major cause of snoring: a weakened palate. The treatment is an excellent alternative to other snoring reduction alternatives such as bulky head-gear, machines and invasive surgeries.
Fotona’s NightLase® therapy uses the Er:YAG laser to gently deliver heat into the deep oral mucosa tissue to tighten the collagen in your throat. The result is reduced amplitude (volume) of snoring, and also reduces effects of sleep apnea.
For the best results, clients will receive three separate treatment sessions over a six week period. Results last up to a year at which time treatment can be repeated.
Removal and Reduction of Spots, Pigmented Lesions & Skin Tags
Our Fotona laser can treat many skin mark conditions, including pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, sunspots and skin tags. We can treat both superficial lesions and deeper lesions by precisely targeting the specific pigments cells causing the marking and leave the surrounding cells untouched. We use both the ablative and non-ablative laser modes depending on the treatment and desired effect.
Veins, Spider Veins & Other Vascular Lesions
Fotona’s long-pulse Nd:YAG laser is perfect for non-invasive treatment of many types of vascular lesions, from spider veins to port wine stains. The laser can penetrate deep into the dermis without damaging surrounding, healthy tissue allowing for highly effective treatments and a dramatic regression in the lesion.
The heat delivered through the laser is absorbed by the blood in the vein then converted into heat. This causes destruction of the targeted veins walls, thus ablating the vein. Your body’s immune system will then clear away the dead tissue. The laser also ablates the underlying vascular feeding system, ensuring long-term efficacy of the treatment. This procedure is safe for all skin types and an ideal alternative to invasive therapies.
Women’s Health & Vaginal Tightening
We offer many female health services for women in varying stages of life. Through various aesthetic treatments, our goal is to help women reclaim, relish, and fully revel in their femininity.
